It is called, “the
color theory” an annual fashion show featuring the young and talented student
designers of Western Michigan University.
The two-day runway
fashion show was held at Radisson Plaza Hotel and Suites in downtown Kalamazoo.
Unlike most student
fashion shows, this one is made not only to showcase WMU student designers
works and collections.
It is a Benefit Show,
doing fashion for a good cause. Part of the proceeds of the show will benefit a
lot of people in need of help; the funds will be donated to “Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation” help
eradicate breast cancer as life threatening disease as well as to help those
recover.
This show is an annual
tradition for the fashion and design studies on Western Michigan University and
student designers, specifically those in their senior years spend almost a year
designing and planning for their collections to be showcased on the show.
Every detail is taken
seriously and they work almost like 24/7 perfecting everything before the show
comes.
This show is independently hosted and sponsored by
the fashion students of Western Michigan University, with the humble support
and assistance of the faculties.
Everything from the lightings to the staging, the
music and backgrounds and the invitations and logos are work of the students.
It was a collaborative effort, everybody pitched in
their own idea and contribution and all labor, pieces and materials used for
the show were for free.
Everybody who was involved voluntarily gave what
they can to help realize the unselfish goal and objective of the show.
It’s been more than a decade since the show begun
and has been benefitting community foundations, and each year is a huge success,
and will always will be, for sure.
